launched inaugural Dubai Global Gem \u0026 Jewellery Fair
GGJF 2014 a joint initiative of DMCC and GJEPC supported by Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG)
DMCC, Dubai’s and the region’s global gateway for commodity trade and enterprise, and the Gem \u0026 Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) India, has officially opened the Global Gem \u0026 Jewellery Fair (GGJF) hosted in Dubai for the first time at Atlantis, The Palm, from 2022 March, 2014.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held this morning with media and industry participants in attendance, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC said:
\”We have enabled Dubai to establish itself as the global gateway for commodities trade by building the infrastructure required for industry participants to trade with confidence much like what we will see unfold here at the inaugural Dubai Global Gem \u0026 Jewellery Fair (GGJF). We look forward to hosting buyers and sellers from all across the globe as well as showcasing the finest in diamonds, jewellery and gemstones in collaboration with the GJEPC\”.
Dubai has quickly emerged as one of the leading global centres for trade of gold, diamonds and precious stones. Combine that strength with the Emirate’s ideal location between the producing and consuming nations along the ‘New Silk Route’ and its unrivalled infrastructure including worldclass cargo facilities, ports and airports that connect to over 220 destinations the Emirate is all set to host the GGJF 2014.
With over 130 exhibitors participating from India and the GCC, the Global Gem \u0026 Jewellery Fair will provide an ideal platform for international buyers and sellers as they seek to trade top quality gems and couture jewellery during the threeday event where visitors from across the globe including GCC, KSA, Egypt, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Singapore, Eastern Europe, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Pakistan and Malaysia, will take part.
Mr. Pankaj Parekh, ViceChairman, GJEPC, said:
\”India’s central role as the sourcing centre for diamonds and precious stones jewellery is renowned worldwide. For years traders and visitors to India have enjoyed the craftsmanship, quality, design and cost efficiency now it’s time we return the gesture and bring the source to Dubai the most promising destination for the gemstones and jewellery trade in recent times. GJEPC is pleased to collaborate with DMCC and we look forward to further strengthen international trading relations here at the GGJF 2014\”.
India is the world leader in production of cut and polished diamonds, emeralds and tanzanites and with 14 out of 15 the world’s diamonds cut and polished in India, products of the highest quality including loose diamonds, loose coloured gemstones, plain gold jewellery as well as diamond and coloured stone studded jewellery, is expected on display at the GGJF 2014.
The UAE is a global hub for the gold bullion and jewellery trade, with gold jewellery consumption estimated at US$ 2.5billion, making it one the top five in the world alongside China, India, the United States and Russia. The UAE alone accounts for 40 per cent of India’s Gem and Jewellery Exports. Home to thousands of the world’s renowned brands and products; Dubai has quickly emerged as a cosmopolitan metropolis hence offering the ideal platform for the prestigious GGJF 2014.

Charoen Krung Road (Thai: ถนนเจริญกรุง, pronounced [tʰā.nǒn t͡ɕā.rɤ̄ːn krūŋ]) is a major road in Bangkok and the first in Thailand to be built using modern construction methods. Built during 1862–1864 in the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV), it runs from the old city centre in Rattanakosin Island, passes through Bangkok’s Chinatown, continues into Bang Rak District, where it formerly served the community of European expatriates, and ends in Bang Kho Laem. Construction of the road marked a major change in Bangkok’s urban development, with the major mode of transport shifting from water to land. Charoen Krung Road was Bangkok’s main street up to the early 20th century, but later declined in prominence. It is still home to many historic buildings and neighbourhoods, which are beset by changes as extension of the underground MRT is poised to drive new development.
