[Update] Templar Assassin Dota 2 build guide: Items, skills, and talents used by Sumail | dragon lance dota 2 – Vietnamnhanvan

dragon lance dota 2: คุณกำลังดูกระทู้

If you want to solo carry your Dota 2 games with big crits from downtown, Sumail’s Dragon Lance Templar Assassin build is the one for you.

But how do you play Templar Assassin like Sumail?

Dragon Lance Templar Assassin is the most popular build for Templar Assassin right now and is viable as both a midlaner and a carry since it offers Templar Assassin a lot of room to grow. Built on the attack range bonus from the Dragon Lance, this build gives Templar Assassin a lot of flexibility in the early and midgame.

OG’s Syed “SumaiL” Hassan is a great example of a pro who masterfully plays the Dragon Lance Templar Assassin build at a professional level. Sitting at an insane 80% win rate on the hero in the current patch as both positions 1 and 2, we’ll be breaking down how SumaiL handles the Dragon Lance Templar Assassin build.

How good is the Dragon Lance Templar Assassin build?

The Dragon Lance Templar Assassin build boasts numerous strengths:

  • Long attack range
  • Bonus health in the early game
  • Positional Advantage

In the past, Templar Assassin relied on her Refraction charges to survive early game ganks. If her opponents had ways to shred the charges quickly, Templar Assassin instantly melts since she has no mobility and is fragile once Refraction is down.

The Dragon Lance build not only offers Templar Assassin much-needed bulk early on, but the extra attack range on top of the bonus from Psi Blades and her level 10 talent means she’ll be able to dance around the edge of fights instead of having to run into danger.

Screenshot by Danelie Purdue/ONE Esports

The additional attack range boosts Psi Blades splash range so much that you can get some crazy long secondary hits off.

Since the build relies on Templar Assassin to ramp up in power, you need to do whatever it takes to secure your early game farm. If you can master Templar Assassin’s laning stage, jungling rotations, and avoid distractions, you’ll be crushing your opponents like SumaiL in no time.

What starting items does SumaiL buy for Templar Assassin?

Screenshot by Danelie Purdue/ONE Esports

SumaiL’s Templar Assassin always goes into lane with these starting items:

  • 2 or 3 Branches | Cheap stats
  • 1 set of Tangoes | Core regen over time
  • 1 Faerie Fire | Core Instant healing
  • Quelling Blade | Optional
  • Circlet | Optional
  • Slippers of Agility | Optional
  • Magic Stick | Optional

You’ll have 290-340 leftover, which you can put towards a Quelling Blade if you struggling with last hitting, Circlet for extra stats if you think you’ll get pressured, or Slippers of Agility if you want a cheaper alternative for extra last hitting power. Don’t cheap out and skip any of Templar Assassin’s items, SumaiL respects the laning stage and so should you.

In tougher match ups, you’ll sometimes see SumaiL pick up an early Magic Stick for extra regen in the lane and potential ganks.

How does SumaiL skill Templar Assassin?

If you’re going into the midlane, your skill order will look like this:

  1. Psi Blades
  2. Refraction
  3. Refraction
  4. Psi Blades or Meld
  5. Refraction
  6. Psionic Trap
  7. Refraction
  8. Meld or Psi Blades
  9. Meld or Psi Blades
  10. Talent

If you’re going into the safelane, your skill order will look like this:

  1. Meld
  2. Psi Blades
  3. Refraction
  4. Refraction
  5. Refraction
  6. Psionic Trap
  7. Refraction
  8. Meld or Psi Blades
  9. Meld or Psi Blades
  10. Talent

The two skill builds look different but the overall goal is the same, setting up for a good laning stage whilst optimizing your damage for your farming rotation. After Refraction, you’ll typically max Meld then Psi Blades since the Dragon Lance and Templar Assassin’s level 10 talent make up for the missing attack range.

You’re open to changing skill order in a pinch but keep in mind the number one rule is you must max Refraction as soon as possible since this is both a defensive and farming tool.

Level 10 Talent – +100 Psi Blades Range

Templar Assassin’s extra Psi Blades range at level 10 is a core component to the Dragon Lance build and is far more useful than the +20 attack speed.

Level 15 Talent – +180 Psionic Trap Damage

The +15% Evasion might look tempting but you’ll want to skill the bonus trap damage instead. SumaiL often incorporates Aghanim’s Scepter into his Templar Assassin build which synergizes well with the trap talent upgrade.

Level 20 Talent – Meld Dispels

In most cases, the Templar Assassin’s Meld dispel talent will be your go-to pick as you’ll want to purge off any spells/items that hinder your mobility such as the root from a Rod of Atos. The ONLY time you skip this is if there are absolutely no spells to dispel.

Level 25 Talent – +8 Refraction Instances

The +8 Refraction talent is a no-brainer. More charges, more damage block instances. It’s too good.

How to play Templar Assassin like SumaiL?

  1. Bottle (mid only)
  2. Blight Stone
  3. Magic Wand
  4. Power Treads
  5. Dragon Lance
  6. Desolator
  7. Daedalus/BKB/Aghanim’s Scepter/etc

Level 1 – Farm your lane. If the lane is tough, finish a Magic Wand first otherwise just get a Blight Stone. Pick up a bottle too if you’re mid.

Level 4 – At this point, SumaiL always shoves the creep wave and starts farming the nearby small (and large if safe lane) camps to his farming regime. Always prioritize lane creeps over neutrals if they’re reaching your tower. Aim to finish a Magic Wand (if you haven’t already) then Power Treads.

See also  Dota 1 - Map 6.83d ! Hướng dẫn cài đặt - Chỉnh Hotkey - Tạo Host trên Atinad.com | hokey dota

If you have cooperative supports ask them to start stacking the remaining camps and the Ancients. Don’t worry if your lane opponent is farming the shoved wave, you’re gaining a much bigger lead if they let you jungle for free.

Level 8 – Clear the stacked neutral camps and spend more time in your jungle but don’t abandon the lane. Don’t aggressively farm yet. Always head back to the lane and shove it if the creeps are reaching your tower. You should be working towards the Dragon Lance.

Level 11 – You should have everything until the Dragon Lance by now. If not, clear the Ancients (which are hopefully stacked) and complete it. From here on out, only participate in low-risk ganks/fights that are close to your towers or farming spots. Desolator is your next priority so keep farming.

Consider Blink Dagger before the Desolator if you’re farming well and your opponent has no instant stuns. Blink further speeds up your farming whilst also allowing you to escape ganks, later on becoming a great initiation tool. Skip if you have slow reaction timing.

Level 13 onwards – With Desolator complete, you’re now a big threat to your opponent. SumaiL typically continues to prioritize farm after the Deso but he’ll happily turn up to objectives to help the team now. Add the enemy jungle to your farm rotation.

Item choices from here will vary depending on what you’re up against but Daedalus is SumaiL’s go-to big damage item after Desolator. You can’t go wrong with the chance to one-hit-KO squishy supports.

Aghanim’s Scepter is another common pick-up for SumaiL if he hasn’t opted for an early Blink Dagger. Psionic Projection turns Templar Assassin into a leaner and meaner version of Spectre, especially with the Psionic Trap talent. This item is amazing if your team is ahead.

Though SumaiL tends to fall back on offense rather than defense, he’ll still build a Black King Bar if he’s up against a lot of stuns. If he’s overwhelmed by crowd control during midgame team fights he picks it up after Desolator, otherwise, he’ll complete it after the Daedalus.

If you’re planning on building Blink Dagger, Swift Blink is a viable damage option after Daedalus. It synergizes well with Templar Assassin since you’ll want to be blinking aggressively anyway by the time you complete it.

The only time we see SumaiL upgrade his Dragon Lance into Hurricane Pike is when the game is getting long and all his other core items are completed. Hurricane Thrust is useful vs melee heroes such as Ursa or Phantom Assassin, and the extra health is always welcome.

In rare cases, SumaiL will pick up a Monkey King Bar to deal with heroes who naturally gain or build evasion such as Terrorblade and Phantom Assassin.

Dota 2 neutral items guide

The drops are completely random in every game but always choose items that benefit Templar Assassin in that particular situation. SumaiL will keep multiple neutral items in his stash for later use so don’t be afraid to do so as well, but only if nobody else on your team needs that particular item.

  • Tier 1 – Keen Optic | The mana regen allows SumaiL to use Refraction more freely while farming.
  • Tier 1 – Possessed Mask | Less trips back to the fountain thanks to the 7% lifesteal, big plus for Ancient farming.
  • Tier 2 – Imp Claw | Crit helps to clear creeps and neutrals quicker.
  • Tier 2 – Bullwhip | A combination of passive regen and mobility, perfect for flash farming.
  • Tier 2 – Nether Shawl | Makes TA super tanky in team fights.
  • Tier 3 – Enchanted Quiver | Even more range to play with on top of a buffed up right click, perfect for sniping the backline and kiting melee.
  • Tier 3 – Mind Breaker | Prevents enemies from reacting if you jump first.
  • Tier 4 – Ninja Gear | The Agi further buffs up TA whilst the free smoke is a nice little bonus for avoiding detection from wards.
  • Tier 4 – Flicker |SumaiL likes to pick this up for the extra mobility and dispel.
  • Tier 4 – The Leveller |A nice option to keep in your stash until you start pushing a tower.
  • Tier 4 – Telescope |Bonus attack range, ideally a teammate equips this for you.
  • Tier 5 – Ballista |Big attack range bonus, nice vs melee targets you want to keep away.
  • Tier 5 – Stygian Desolator |Opens up the Desolator slot for another item.

[Update] Phantom Lancer: One of the Seven Dota 2 Patch 7.29 Winners | dragon lance dota 2 – Vietnamnhanvan

We’ve had almost two weeks to play around with Dota 2 Patch 7.29 now, with some of the biggest winners in the hero pool now popular picks. The new metagame has quickly taken shape, with some heroes immediately rising to dominant status as a result. Some of these heroes are being picked frequently both in pubs and in the new Dota Pro Circuit season.

If you’re looking for the strongest heroes to play this patch, you’ve come to the right place. Here are some of the top picks in the metagame for 7.29!

Phantom Lancer

If you’ve seen two-time International champion Anathan “ana” Pham play this DPC season, you’ll know just why Phantom Lancer is one of the best carries right now. His Aghanim’s Shard upgrade is just bonkers if we’re honest. That kind of damage amplification on the Spirit Lance (Q) illusion? Amazing. The fact that it bounces on top of that? Simply incredible.

The Shard upgrade alone was enough to bring Phantom Lancer up to a near 56 percent win rate just a week ago from the time of writing. Patch 7.29b has since brought him back down to a more reasonable level, removing the bonus cast range and reducing the illusion damage on Spirit Lance. Balance master IceFrog also made the bounce radius smaller, but not to a point where the Shard is unusable. It just doesn’t have the insane value it did before the patch now.

So how do you play Phantom Lancer this way? Pretty much the usual way: try to avoid fighting before completing your Diffusal Blade (after Power Treads). Once you get it, you can start joining your team in skirmishes, but for the most part you still want to farm until your Manta Style. When your Manta is complete, buy Aghanim’s Shard as soon as possible. From there, your job is to poke away at the enemy team with Spirit Lance, which will whittle them down slowly. This will give you an advantage to start the teamfight with. In the ultra-late game, things like Eye of Skadi or Heart of Tarrasque will basically make you unkillable unless they have Earthshaker or something.

Drow Ranger

We previously discussed how one of the biggest changes in 7.29 will allow heroes that depend heavily on positioning will be good in this metagame. True enough, Drow Ranger has become one of the better ranged carries in the patch, thanks to the removal of some cast range talents. Drow went from an uninspiring 47 percent win rate last patch to well above 50 percent in 7.29, making her more than playable again.

Besides the aforementioned change, her numbers also went up quite a bit in 7.29. Her attack point was made faster, the mana cost of Gust (W) was reduced, and her Multishot (E) cooldown talent was made slightly better. Moreover, Manta Style on ranged heroes like Drow was made to have a much shorter cooldown, down from 45 seconds to 30. Considering that Manta Style is a core item for Drow Ranger, this means that the item itself offers better value to her. On the flipside, she can also viably go for Satanic again, thanks to the active now providing a basic dispel on use.

As for her item progression, it’s pretty much still the same as before: Dragon Lance, Yasha into Manta Style, then Black King Bar if needed. We think it’s good to at least consider buying Sange and Yasha, though. That item is just so good for the price right now, especially in the mid-game.

Ancient Apparition

Ancient Apparition was actually already great even before 7.29, boasting close to a 54 percent success rate prior to the update. The Dota 2 balance team made him even better in 7.29, reducing the mana cost of Ice Vortex (W) across every level of the ability. His Aghanim’s Scepter upgrade now also halves the mana cost of Chilling Touch (E), making it actually viable to put him in a core role again.

The metagame as a whole is also very conducive to playing AA, whether as a support or a core. Ice Blast (R) gets plenty of value from a regen/healing-heavy meta like this, so it’s almost never a bad idea to pick him right now. When heroes like Necrophos and Huskar are in vogue, Kaldr shines like the ice he’s made of.

It also helps a lot that he’s very good in the laning phase. Chilling Touch is nothing to sneeze at when it comes to harassment potential, and Ice Vortex is very useful in early gank attempts. Cold Feet (Q) is also great when paired with long roots or similar disables. Chaos Knight is probably the best example of this, thanks to Chaos Bolt (Q) and Reality Rift (W)’s synergy with Cold Feet.

Ironically, Lifestealer is in this list despite the presence of Ancient Apparition as well. AA naturally counter’s Lifestealer’s Feast (W) with Ice Blast, but it’s pretty clear that N’aix has more to offer than just lifesteal. 7.29 made him much more cohesive as a carry, especially after they returned the damage bonus to Feast.

The bonus damage makes him more lethal in the late game against beefy heroes, and just more consistent than he was before. Prior to 7.29, he had a mediocre win rate of around 49 percent. He is now above 50 percent thanks to the buffs and the effectiveness of Sange and Yasha, which is one of his core items.

As mentioned in the section for Ancient Apparition, Huskar is one of the better heroes in this metagame. Some months prior to 7.29, Huskar was basically half a hero, not even able to fill his usual cheese pick role well because his numbers were just so bad. IceFrog then decided to bless him with a litany of buffs. The Inner Fire (Q) Aghanim’s Shard upgrade was strengthened to allow Huskar to cast it even when disabled (yes, even through stuns), and his Burning Spear (W) was made to cost less health per throw.

Huskar was quickly toned down in 7.29b after reaching a 55 percent win rate in 7.29, with nerfs aimed primarily at his agility gain and making Life Break (R) less spammable. Still, even with the nerfs, he’s got a 52.5 percent win rate to his name, thanks to the power of Sange and Yasha and Satanic. He also doesn’t really mind the removal of the blink effect from Abyssal Blade, as he has a natural gap closer of his own.

Grimstroke was basically unplayable in the last major patch, especially in public matchmaking. This came down mostly to the fact that his kit needs the right picks in the draft around him to make it work, particularly when it came to using Ink Swell (E) and Soulbind (R). This of course inherently limits his usefulness in modes like All Pick, where players pretty much pick whatever they want without really giving much thought to synergy.

To counteract this, the balance team gave him an incredible rework to his Aghanim’s Shard, while massively increasing the damage output of Phantom’s Embrace (W). His Shard upgrade alone does an absurd number of things all at once. It heals the target, deals 50 percent more damage to any enemy units it touches (compared to without the Shard), and even applies a strong dispel on expiration.

See also  Team Secret vs Virtus.pro - Kuala Lumpur Major Grand Final | dota 2 major

That last bit is especially important. By design, Ink Swell is all about enabling an ally to just dive headlong into teamfights. The extremely long area of effect stun on expiration is powerful enough, but adding a strong dispel on top of it is just crazy. We recommend trying him with picks like Slark or Phantom Assassin. It’ll be loads of fun, trust us.

Dawnbreaker is the newest hero in Dota 2, and it’s no secret that she had quite a rough start upon her arrival. She had an abysmal win rate of 38 percent in the first few days of 7.29, prompting IceFrog to pump up her numbers sky high some time after.

The result? A huge increase to her win rate, going from 38 percent to a peak of 54.5 percent on April 14th. After receiving the aforementioned buffs, she became a straight-up nightmare to deal with in lane, whether as a support or as a core. Her kill threat is extremely high, even just by herself. Her Starbreaker (Q) alone is ridiculous in the lane, particularly when it comes to setting up kills. Later on, Solar Guardian (R) becomes an easy setup ability, and can even be used to force opponents to disengage from a teamfight

Once she has her core items, she becomes a tanky frontline damage dealer that can be difficult to deal with. Her amazing strength gain also contributes to this; it’s not at all strange to see a Dawnbreaker with more than 3,000 HP in the late game. If you’re looking for an exciting yet reliable pick as an offlaner or a support, Dawnbreaker has you covered. Heck, even Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen thinks she can be played mid.

Of course, the metagame shifts as rapidly as it’s set, so some of these will likely change over the next few weeks. The DPC also influences the pub metagame somewhat, so we’ll be back soon with this season’s edition of the Metagame Report. Until then, we recommend playing some of these heroes when you can!
